This is Wisconsin cheddar cheese before it is pressed into blocks. The curds are very mild “nuggets” of cheese that squeak when fresh. A Wisconsin treat. Yellow curds only.
I go through the Fremont area a few times a month for work and I stop in to buy some cheese curds and string cheese when I have the chance. The cheese is always fresh, always delicious, and the staff is super friendly. Definitely the best cheese in Wisconsin, and quite possibly the best cheese in the entire country - especially their string cheese! P.S. if you've never had cheese curds before, try Union Star's first - and make sure to eat them at room temperature when they're squeaky!- Mark H.
